Johnson O’Malley (JOM) Program
The Northern Cheyenne Tribal Education Department administers the Johnson O’Malley (JOM) Program to provide supplemental support for eligible Native American students in K–12 public schools. The program works with schools, families, and the Indian Education Committee (IEC) to strengthen academic success and cultural identity.
Program Purpose
The JOM Program supports tutoring, cultural activities, school supplies, counseling, and other services not funded through regular school budgets.
Eligibility
Students must:
- Be enrolled members or descendants of a federally recognized tribe
- Be between ages 3–18
- Attend a public school that has a JOM contract with the Northern Cheyenne Tribe
Parents or guardians must complete a JOM Student Eligibility Certification Form each year to ensure students are counted for program funding
Indian Education Committee (IEC)
The IEC helps guide, evaluate, and approve JOM activities. The committee reviews needs assessments, recommends programs, and ensures cultural relevance.
Needs Assessment and Planning
Annual needs assessments determine priorities such as:
- Academic tutoring or study support
- Cultural and language programs
- Parent involvement activities
- Leadership or enrichment opportunities
The JOM Project Plan outlines how these goals are implemented in partnership with local schools and the IEC.
Required Forms
To participate in the JOM Program, parents must complete the following forms:
- Student Information Form
- Parent / IEC Page
- JOM Project Plan and Needs Assessment
- Contract Application Forms
These assessments inform the JOM Project Plan for the year.
