The Northern Cheyenne Tribal Education Department provides financial assistance to eligible tribal members pursuing higher education at accredited colleges and universities. The program supports students through scholarships, advising, and resources that help them reach their educational goals while staying connected to cultural values.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Follow all program guidelines
- Be an enrolled member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe
- Be accepted into an accredited college, university, or certificate program
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
Application Deadlines
- Fall Semester / Quarter: December 1
- Winter / Spring Semester: October 1
- Summer Session: April 1
All documents must be received by the Tribal Education Department before the deadline. Faxed copies are not accepted.
Required Documents
To be considered for funding, applicants must submit the following:
- Completed Higher Education Application
- Official transcripts: High School, College, or GED scores
High school seniors must submit 6th semester transcripts with their application. - Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)
- One-page written educational goals
- FAFSA Summary with Student Aid Index (SAI)
- Acceptance letter from your college or university
- Needs Analysis from your school’s financial aid office
- Any additional documentation listed in the program forms
Graduate Students
Graduate-level funding is available for students pursuing advanced degrees. The Higher Education Graduate Program provides up to $5,000 per academic year and requires:
- Proof of Tribal Enrollment (for first-time applicants)
- Acceptance letter into a graduate program
- Three letters of reference (for new applicants)
- Plan of Study signed by your advisor
- Mid-term progress report each term
Online courses must be part of your official graduate program
Guidelines and Student Responsibilities
Students must read and sign the Higher Education Guidelines Acknowledgement before funding is released. These guidelines outline academic expectations and reporting requirements.
Release Forms
Students must authorize the release of their academic and financial information to the Tribal Education Department.
- Use the Release of Information Form to grant permission for your college or university to share grades and progress reports.
- If desired, use the Parent/Guardian Release Form to allow family members access to your student records.
